Connor Maguire was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1977.He studied at the University of Ulster in Belfast and now works as a freelance artist specialising in Oil painting focusing on portraiture, Printmaking working mainly in woodcuts and linocuts and is a professional framer who also works in every type of medium that is accessible to him in regards of painting and drawing.
Connors paintings are inspired from anything ranging from everyday events, personal experiences, friends or family but is currently focusing his attention on portraiture on a large scale and loves drawing in charcoal and white chalk studying the human figure. He exhibits regularly taking part in solo and several group shows alongside Irelands most respected artists such as Shawcross, Blackshaw, Carol Graham and many other acclaimed painters recognised throughout Ireland.see more
Connors work has received many publications as well as interviews from the likes of the BBC on several occasions and Channel 4 where his work was featured in Grand designs house of the year 2015. He was shortlisted as Artist of the Year 2013 in association with the nations biggest Art magazine Artist & Illustrator where he exhibited with some of the finest Artists in Britain. He has received many other awards for his achievements in the Art world exhibiting in Hillsborough Castle representing the Princes Trust Charity and has been awarded the Anna Cheyne ,Stephens, Down Chairman’s and Carnathan galleries awards amongst others.
He is the youngest member to gain membership to the Ulster Watercolour Society and is currently exhibiting in the Royal Hibernian Academy alongside Irelands finest Irish Artists and has exhibited in the past within the Royal Ulster Academy which are two of Irelands biggest Art exhibitions that take place annually. Connors work continues to progress and develop as well as exhibit in galleries throughout Ireland and afar.
